Acknowledge an alert

Acknowledge an alert when you accept responsibility for the response. Acked stops reminders and scheduled escalation.

  1. Open the alert or its notification.
  2. Select Ack.
  3. Confirm that the state changes to Acked.

Acknowledgement does not close the alert. Resolve it when the incident ends.

Resolve an alert

Resolve an alert when the monitored condition is no longer active.

  1. Open the alert.
  2. Select Resolve.
  3. Confirm that the state changes to Resolved.

A source can also resolve an alert by sending the original event_key with action: "resolve".

Pause paging with snooze

Snooze pauses paging and cancels pending escalation for up to 24 hours. When the alert wakes, Acked pages whoever is on call at that time.

  1. Open a live alert.
  2. Select Snooze.
  3. Choose a duration and confirm.

Select Wake now to end the snooze early.

Escalate or retry

Select Escalate to page the next escalation level immediately. This action does not wait for the configured delay.

An unreachable alert shows Retry. Retry starts at the first level and uses the current schedule. Fix an empty or incorrect schedule before you retry.

Add another responder

Adding a responder pages that person immediately. It does not change the alert assignment or escalation position.

  1. Open a live alert.
  2. Find Responders.
  3. Select Add responder.
  4. Choose a person, schedule, or service.

Read the timeline

The newest timeline event appears first. Use the timeline to confirm state changes, responder actions, escalation, and delivery results.

Expand a delivery group when you need the channel, target, provider result, or recorded error. See Troubleshoot alert delivery for a complete diagnostic sequence.
